CHAPTER 01
The passion of our users gave me confidence in the path ahead.
Since joining the company, I’ve gained cross-functional experience across Group operating companies and the holding company, working in various departments. Among these experiences, one that I will never forget is establishing the Legal Department in my fifth year. Building a system from the ground up was a major responsibility, but it was an invaluable experience that gave me a deep sense of fulfillment in supporting the Group at its core.
Then, in 2019, I moved to the newly established Integrated Resort (IR) Division at SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS. With the ambitious goal of constructing an IR facility in Yokohama, I was entrusted with a wide range of tasks, including legally reviewing casino operations manuals prepared by the Incheon, Korea team, handling legal matters related to gaming licenses obtained in Nevada, USA, and responding to regulations and instructions from the authorities. However, when the decision was made to withdraw from the Yokohama IR project, I experienced a period of emptiness, feeling as though my efforts had been in vain. I questioned my purpose and almost lost sight of my career's direction. What helped me regain my sense of direction was a business trip to the United States. In Las Vegas, seeing crowds gather around SEGA SAMMY slot machines and players completely absorbed in the excitement reignited my sense of purpose. “Our work carries such huge significance,” I thought. I still vividly remember the day when I felt that way.

CHAPTER 02
Mastering the balance between accelerator and brake to bring “fun” to the world.
Currently, I am responsible for conducting background checks on Group business partners and coordinating with SEGA SAMMY CREATION USA to respond to regulatory demands, ensuring the maintenance of gaming licenses. While the Compliance Department might sound stiff and formal, it's actually a workplace where you collaborate with “people who think of interesting things.” I've often found myself exclaiming “You're a genius!” upon hearing their ideas. However, no matter how brilliant an idea is, it can't always be released as-is due to legal and compliance constraints. Figuring out “how to make it happen and get it out to the world” is the ultimate thrill for me. While applying the brakes is sometimes necessary, fundamentally, I want to step on the accelerator and deliver “fun” to the world alongside our creators. That’s why, when I’m asked to tackle a tough issue, I feel genuinely excited—it’s a chance to show the true value I can bring. It's an opportunity to truly demonstrate my value. While I still enjoy taking on challenges directly as an individual contributor, I’ve also discovered the joy of management—fostering an environment where team members can leverage their individuality and strengths. Looking ahead to my next career step, I aim to continue improving myself while contributing to the Group’s growth.

MessageMessage to students and those wishing to join our company
The appeal of the SEGA SAMMY Group lies in its diverse range of entertainment businesses. That's precisely why legal and compliance roles demand broad responsibilities, meaning you won't find yourself doing the same work repeatedly. Furthermore, the company offers comprehensive educational programs, such as the SEGA SAMMY College, as well as overseas study opportunities. I myself recently participated in the “Mirai-Juku,” a leadership development program. Having an environment where you can keep learning even as you build your career is a huge motivator. From my own experience, I can say that there are endless opportunities within this company to challenge yourself. Even if you initially think things like, “I can only do legal work,” “I’m not suited for management,” “I’m not good at English, so working overseas is impossible,” a transfer may open your eyes to new possibilities. That's exactly why I also encourage all of you to challenge yourselves without limiting your potential. You might find that the perfect role for you exists in a place you never expected.
