Assistance to Disaster-Affected Communities
Support for the Great East Japan Earthquake
The Great East Japan Earthquake struck on March 11, 2011, at 2:46 pm, causing the worst natural disaster after World War II with deaths, missing, and injuries of people, as well as complete and partial collapse of buildings. As a member of society, Sega Sammy Group has been supporting the restoration and reconstruction of areas affected by the earthquake and working toward true recovery.

Immediate support
Right after the earthquake, Sega Sammy Group donated emergency aid through the NGO Japan Platform, the Japan Red Cross Society, and other organizations.
Restoration support
Employee volunteers
Employee volunteers of Sega Sammy Group visited areas affected by the disaster (Minamisanriku-cho, Higashimatsuhima City, and Shichigahamamachi, in Miyagi Prefecture). They helped volunteer centers and support groups for disaster-relief activities.
Actual activities: A total of 465 employees participated in the activities held 42 times from 2011 to 2015.

Ochakko (visit and have tea)
Employee volunteers visited temporary housing and showed their individual special skills, and held game competitions to communicate with disaster victims.
Actual activities: In Higashimatsushima City and Minamisanriku-cho in Miyagi Prefecture from 2012 to 2013
Training program for new employees
New employees of Sega Sammy Group visited areas affected by the earthquake in April to hear lectures and hold group works to support the vitalization of affected cities as training for new employees.
Actual activities: In Minamisanriku-cho, Onagawa-cho, Ishinomaki City, Higashimatsushima City, and Shichigahamamachi in Miyagi Prefecture from 2012 to 2019

Cheering event
We have been holding various event activities in the affected areas using Sega Sammy Group’s resources such as UFO catchers, arcade game machines, and darts.
Proceeds from the paid games were all donated to the cities and villages.
Actual activities: In Morioka City in Iwate Prefecture, Minamisanriku-cho, Onagawa-cho, Higashimatsushima City and Shichigahamamachi in Miyagi Prefecture, and Iitate Village in Fukushima Prefecture from 2011

Sports program
Baseball school
Sega Sammy Group’s baseball club retirees invite retired professional baseball players and hold baseball schools for junior high school students in the affected areas.
Actual activities: In Iitate Village in Fukushima Prefecture, Higashimatsushima City, Onagawa-cho, and Shichigahamamachi in Miyagi Prefecture from 2015 to 2019

Swimming school
Sega Sammy Group held swimming schools with its ambassador Takeshi Matsuda, a former Olympic swimmer.
Actual activity: In Higashimatsushima City and Shichigahamamachi in Miyagi Prefecture from 2016 to 2019
